Hello everyone,
I went online to check the status of my I-485 and it displayed me the following message
Application Type: I485, APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS
Current Status: Document mailed to applicant.
On December 19, 2007 we mailed the document to the address we have on file. You should receive the new document within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service.
What does it mean? Does it mean that I-485 is approved.
Pls guide.

DMV stopped issuing DL based on EAD card in Virginia. I guess it will be same for TX and other states. You need original I485 receipt to get one year extensiton. EAD no more valid document for extension.

i think there is a provision that if you are traveling for work every few months then you just need to provide your 'permanent' address not the 'temporary' address.

Hi, I wouldn't bank on what officer says as it is not binding. You need valid AP to enter US and there should be no confusion about it.
You should take Employment verification letter and latest stubs although it is not 'required'. I believe your July 20th paystub should be sufficient but if you have access to your latest electronic paystubs(ADP website) it is not a bad idea to print them out. Otherwise don 't bother.

a person travelled on AP and he got I94 longer than current AP expiry date . And he asked officer can he use current AP before I 94 expire. And he got answer Yes.
But I am not sure whether it is true or not alway check with Attorny for the same.

I have my last pay stub was July 20th 09 and planning to go on vacation on Aug 20 and coming back in Sep th. What I'm missing is immediate pay stubs, is it required to have same?

Recently, I made my own PP photos using http://www.epassportphoto.com/
This is a great service - It creates a jpeg file from a picture that you upload, and you can choose the "free" option in which you can save the jpeg file with 4-6 pictures in one frame (A 4" x 6" photo can yield 6 pp photos of 2" x 2"), and take it to Walgreens/Costco/Kinkos for a printout for $0.25 each. Otherwise you pay about $8-$12 for 2 photos at the same stores!!
For a family of 4, this equates to savings of ~ $40!!!
The site has all the tools for meeting various types of visa/pp/etc photo requirements for various countries.
Most WOLF camera and RITZ camera stores do the same thing for free. I have done this many times. Use a good digital camera and take the pics in memory stick or USB and they crop the photo to the right passport specifications. All you pay for is the print which is $0.25 or less.
Its good to know we have an online option as well. Thanks for the info hinvin66.

1) If i file a non-profit h1b visa , i was suggested that i can work immediately, is that true?
As far as I understood cap-exempt visa are not for all non profits. It is for non profit research organizations only. That is the reason most universities/charity research organizations qualify for it.
3) I have been searching monster, indeed etc to find a sponsorer for my visa, i attended 2 interviews till now and cleared them too but when it comes to work permit they are not willing to do h1 for me. I have lost all hopes and posting here to find out if there are any companies who are willing to do h1b.
Try not to going through any consulting stuff just to file in April. Consulting companies are going through rough phase and USCIS is getting very strict with them (this is just my preception from what I am hearing around).

A federal judge has ordered USCIS to pay attorney Kip Evan Steinberg $25,000 in legal fees after the lawyer's client sued the agency to force it to complete processing in an adjustment of status green card case. USCIS tried to point the finger at the FBI for delays in the name check process, but the judge wasn't buying. The judge found the 151 hours the lawyer put in to the case to be reasonable. We understand the American dream far better then many born American citizen, who think everybody else owe them something just because they were born in USA. We, on the other hand are living and moving towards the classic American dream. A good start will be to join us in our cause instead of demanding we oppose Hispanics or undocumented immigrants.

when you got H1 did you receive new I-94? If yes, then you should have been working with the employer who did your H1 and not L1 employer. If not you should be able to COS to H1 without issues.

During COS process ..I will not be working on project so is this become problem for denial of COS status

Smart man Anders!! I did the same thing a few weeks ago on one of my bird images!
My reasoning was slightly different in that at iso 1600 often there is little to no noise on the subject but tons in the OOF region! And NI removes detail and sharpness which I hate! So I did the same thing to background while holding the birds definition!
Enjoy and never worried about does this look natural question anymore! Nothing looks natural to me anymore :)

My attorney and my employer has different address. My attorney received the approval notice on 5/14/ when it was approved on 5/8. Then since 5/22, USCIS's online status showed some "New document" have been sent to the "address they have on file" on 5/22. It could be they sent another approval notice to my employer or could be they sent something else. So far neither my attorney nor my employer received anything from USCIS yet since 5/22.
