Even GC cannot work on security Clearance projects. Only Citizens allowed.
That is true, but depends on degree of security clearance, if it is less than GC can work.

Technically you have to wait till Aug 1.
Chances are, you will get your GC sometime in early August :)

My application is recieved by R COOK on 10th July and no news yet.
My 140 is approved on 08/17 just 2-3 days before.
Not sure whats going on.

I am an Indian citizen. I have an approved I-140 under National Interest Waiver with a PD of Aug 31, 2007. I am now a permanently employed scientist at a National Lab. I think I am now eligible for application under EB-1 Outstanding researcher category. Is it possible to apply for I-485 without another I-140? It will take quite some time to secure all the recommendation letters to apply for EB-1 (OR). I am wondering if I can bypass the whole process of I-140 and directly apply for adjustment of status based on my approved I-140 saving time and effort.

You need to start from ground zero...EB2 NIW is different from EB1, so you can not use the EB2-140

Even if your extension gets denied then your current H1 is still valid till Sep 2009 and you can work till then ..

Guys,
Friend of mine has got H1B1 visa stamped now. But we just found out that on his passport ECNR is not deleted. ECNR is still required there.
Can you guys help us to understand what this is? Do we need to remove ECNR before he travel to UR? He has BE (Mech).
When I came to US my ECNR was deleted and I am also graduate.
Your help appreciated.

hi,
They should file form I-130 for you immediately and once your priority date becomes current, you could file 485. You need to maintain status until you file 485. You should not wait until they become U.S. Citizens. You should lock your priority date and it will carry over even if they are U.S. Citizens. Family immigration is on a much faster track now.Take a look at past few visa bulletins to see.

Just checking: How many of us got the COPIES of 485 petetion filed by attorney. I asked my attorney to send me copies of petition filed and the supporting documents submitted (filed on 6/29 and delivered 7/2: July VB). Despite calling and writting couple of times since the filing, I have NOT got the copies to make sure if filing was okay. we provided all info and documents required.
My question: 1) Is it a common practice for attorneys to supply a copy of filed petion to clients. 2) How many people got copies.
It helps to do some introspection. Please, let us know

Dont waste time. Fill the FOIA form whatever you can only for "140 approval notice" (one page). They will use those info and send you the approval letter. It may take 1-3 months. At least you can give a shot. If you get it then resubmit FOIA with the A#. FYI- you can not fill two request same time. Once one is completed then you can send second one.

While there is no way to know whether these companies sponsored employees located in Silicon Valley, as opposed to another office location, it is clear that high-tech and Silicon Valley are standouts on the list of H-1B employers.
Those who assume the H-1B is a tool used primarily by IT companies may be surprised to see the number of prestigious universities and medical facilities also nearing the top of the list. H-1B visas are work visas for professional workers who typically require at least a Bachelor's degree for entry into their profession. If your spouse takes a student loan in USA, there are other advantages though. He/she can claim student loan deduction on the taxes !! Not sure your Indian bank would provide the necessary forms to you or if they have a legal obligation to submit anything to IRS here.
