I agree with you that it is a random process but the processing date that is shown indicates that all the cases prior to that date have been "served". So, TSC-Oct 14 means, cases received on Oct 14 and later are currently being served. Hope this helps.

There are some unused and unallocated visa numbers reported by various means. Few# got reported by consulate abroad and few reported by USCIS.
2. How USCIS and Consulate can report unused Visa #'s?
You might be reading the I-485 rejection cases by CIS and Consulate
You might be hearing about USCIS is unable to process the applications received
You might be hearing people could not able to file whose cased were current in June.
All these Visa #'s are reported back
3. To me around 20000 such numbers are available for this years quota

My experience: Fill all the fields at least for 1st and lasst blocks. Then you will find your record in tracker. Then do trial and error for making fields blank for some fields what you do not want to appear. Some fields, making blank would make record disappear and some not.

When i went to Mumbai last december i got my H1B stamped. while coming to US i showed the POE my H1B stamped visa he asked me for Advanced parol document and i was Parolled.When i asked him i have a H1B stamped in my passport why do i need to be parolled. He answered AP has a higher preference than H1B.
the bottom line is " H1B stamping will not be considered for your entry". Its just a stamp for your satisfaction.
I am not going to stamp my H1B again. 18 months back when i came from Vancouver Canada the POE let me in by AP not by H1B visa. I asked him about my valid H1B and the POE told me you can enter using either one but we prefer AP.
If you are a local from mumbai then its okay to attend a interview and get stamped. They don't ask much in my interview. In my last interview they asked me in the picture you have a mouthstach and now you are clean shaven. So that is the level of questions asked at the interview. Its just 2-3 hours of work or maybe half a day if you wish to do it.
One more proble i went through at mumbai consulte, The dates were posted 1 week in advance and then a local person has to go and submit the document to the consulate. the FEDEX from US to India would be costing around 68 to 150 dollars and it needs to be reached within 1-2 days (i.e. 3 days before the interview). I got it done somehow.

Lot of incorrect info on this thread.
Please allow me some points on H-1B here
1. There is no requirement that H-1B has to be full time job. One can have one H-1B for 10 hour job. Please do not confuse H-1B job with GC job. GC job has to be full time and permanent, not H-1B job.
2. One can have more than 1 H-1B active same time, called concurrent H-1B.
3. Concurrent H-1B is cap exempt as person is already on H-1B status.
4. Both H-1B can be for full time hours (i.e. 80 hours per week or more)
5. Both H-1B can be part time jobs and of course, it can be for 1 full time and 1 part time job.
6. Each H-1B is regulated by its corresponding LCA.

I am not against donating (have done it myself) but do you guys really think they are giving out GCs to the donors?
Or is someone giving out the secret to a quicker GC in the donor forum?
Or is there the address of the shop selling GCs?
Whatever appears in RED color - supposedly for donors - to me seems to be a marketing trick to attract more donation (sadly, they had to resort to this) - but remember that if there is a big news that is relevant to us - it will be flashed everywhere, even in Indian newspapers!
Don't go begging access to the donor forum or start salivating at the thought of accessing it... just seems kinda childish to me.
Don't gimme reds for this, it was only worth 0.02 - not enough for donation!

Consider this, I am an H1B and my perm has not been filed yet. Don't think you can do anything about PIMS its a hit or miss. i got my visa renewed 7th year in Feb a few weeks before DS 160 came in to play. It was fairly smooth infact I felt they were much more organized this time then in the past years. If I recall my appointment was for 9:15 am I reached outside the consulate at 9.00am. They had us and the groups that I can't recall the term but indian co's that had groups of their peeps attending visa interviews in separate lines. Have your passport, original 797 and fee receipt together while waiting and from then on the usual. I have never seen or used the Strips Lounge but then I am a local too so comfort level with that. Good Luck.

Yes, this is part of the pre-adjudication process. No need to take an Attorney if your case is straight forward - but it really depends on you!
Even though yours and your wife's interview time is different - they will call you together :)....just drop in both the Interview Notices together once in the room.
Take all the documents that you can - both original and photocopies (don't worry if you don't have originals).
We had our interview couple of weeks back and all the officer asked was for photocopies of EVL, W-2's along with Tax returns for last 3 years and birth Certificates.
Hope this helps.

Now that H.R 5582 has cleared Judiciary sub - commitee and moves to Judiciary Full Commitee, I think we all need to focus our "Call/Fax" campaign and overwhelm the fence sitters with calls etc .
1. At Full judiciary commitee the list of congressman would be more than 10-15 .Probably 30-40??. Size wise it might be prohibitive.
2 No point in 1000 of us calling Steve Kings ....He will never change his mind . Spare this effort to convince fence sitters instead. No point in calling the one who we know already support either.
This leaves us with plenty of time to repeatedly call the fence sitters and force them to jump our way

I got a hold of 5 of my friends at work who are in the same GC boat as I and spent 20 mins explaining the whole process and got them to make the calls. Afterwards they were all surprised to notice it took up just 15-20 mins. Now seeing the result they are further motivated to participate in forthcoming action items....maybe this is one way we can get others to participate....

Yes the Full commitee had 40 members, 23 democrats and 17 Republicans including Congressman Sensenbrenner who is a co sponsor.

I got a hold of 5 of my friends at work who are in the same GC boat as I and spent 20 mins explaining the whole process and got them to make the calls. Afterwards they were all surprised to notice it took up just 15-20 mins. Now seeing the result they are further motivated to participate in forthcoming action items....maybe this is one way we can get others to participate....

The intent is to keep the issue of immigration alive till the elections so that there is a chance for any Immigration bill after elections. There are several other pressing issues faced by the nation and Immigration is just one of them. It may not be #1 priority now. The lameduck is very important if something needs to be done on Immigration. The results of Nov elections will also influence what kind of Immigration reform is possible.
